The Madhesh Province has urged the Federal Government to promptly go with the police adjustment process.
Province minister for home and communications Bharat Prasad Saha made this call by organising a press meet at his office this morning. The Province government has demanded the adjustment of the police force within a week.
"This is not the first time we have been requesting the Federal Government to carry out the police adjustment, but it seems that the centre is not serious over the matter. We will be forced to launch a protest against the delay if it is not ensured within a week," he said during the press meet.
As the minister said, they will be sending a memorandum to the Federal Government through the Province Chief on coming August 7 to what he said exert pressure on the Center. He warned that they will go for phase-wise programmes of protest if they are not heard within the given deadline.
According to the minister, a meeting of home ministers from all seven provinces was held in Janakpur some weeks ago and a separate delegation from the Madhesh led by the Chief Minister urged the Federal Government to undertake the police adjustment process required with the nation switching to the federalism.
He accused the Federal Government of intending to curtail the rights given to the Province government by the Constitution, misinterpreting them and merely giving assurance to the Province.
