Police arrested a man on the charge of killing his friend in Lamkichuha Municipality-2 of Kailali district, on Tuesday.
The arrested has been identified as Som Bahadur Basnet (39) of Kailari Rural Municipality-4 in the district.
Police also identified the deceased as Bishal Budhathoki (36) of Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City in the district.
According to police, Budhathoki had been working as manual labour and living in a rented room in Motipur, Lamkichuha-2. He was found dead with an injury on the back of his head on Monday, police informed.
During investigation, a team of security personnel deployed from Lamki-based Area Police Office detained Basnet from Birendra Community forest located in Kailari. Basnet had been hiding in the forest after allegedly killing his friend Budhathoki.
The preliminary investigation showed that in a dispute, Basnet had hit on the head of Budhathoki with an iron rod killing him on Sunday night, police informed and added that the dispute erupted while both of them were drinking homemade liquor.
Meanwhile, investigation into the case is underway, said Kailali District Police Office.
