A man has been arrested in Kapilvastu on the charge of murdering his wife. Ram Kewal Lonia, 45, of Baba Bangai in Maharajgunj Municipality-11 of the district was arrested by police on November 5.
He had fled to India since murdering his 35-year-old wife, Chinka in the Kapilvastu Community Forest in Buddhabhumi Municipality-9, Champapur after taking her there on the pretext of fetching firewood. The incident took place around two months ago, according to Dharmaraj Bhandari, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kapilvastu.
While searching for Lonia, a police team deployed from Area Police Office, Gorusinge, Kapilvastu, arrested him from Dumra in Budhbhumi Municipality-9. The remains of Chinka, who has been missing since August 31, were found in the forest on September 30.
Police said that an investigation is underway into the case.
