Mechi Provincial Hospital gets finance support from Caritas

International non-governmental social organization Caritas Nepal has provided more than Rs. 1.6 million worth of essential health items to Mechi Provincial Hospital. The health items provided with the financial support of Caritas from different countries were provided to the hospital for the second time on Monday. Caritas had earlier donated more than Rs 1.1 million worth of medical supplies to the hospital with the financial support of German Caritas.

Caritas provided 10 oxygen cylinders worth Rs. 210,000, four oxygen concentrators worth Rs. 580,000, 450 sets of PPE worth Rs. 495,788, 100 surgical gloves worth Rs. 132,000, Rs. A total of 515 bags of surgical masks worth Rs 64,015, 34 axometers worth Rs 49,946, 210 bags of sanitisers worth Rs 45,087 and venturi masks worth Rs 24,990 to the hospital, said Govindaraj Kattel.

The medical supplies were handed over to Somnath Portel, Chairman of the District Management Committee, Jhapa and Dr Tanka Prasad Barakoti, Medical Superintendent of the hospital by Devendra Pokhrel, Head of Damak Branch Office. Pokharel said that the number of patients who needed to go to the hospital was high and many of them had low oxygen levels and had difficulty in breathing.

According to Pokharel, Caritas Nepal is also operating the Covid-19 helpdesk in collaboration with the hospital at the premises of the TB Prevention Institute near Mechi Hospital under social responsibility.
