Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supplies Dilendra Prasad Badu has stressed the need to promote and conserve Gaura, a Hindu festival celebrated in parts of the country including Sudurpaschim Province.
He pointed out the equal role of all federal, provincial and local governments to conserve the country's indigenous culture and festivals including Gaura. The minister was addressing an event organized here on Saturday by the Prasamsha Protection Group on the occasion of the Gaura festival, 2079.
The government is committed to protecting and conserving the Gaura festival and Deuda culture, the identity marker of Nepal, he said.
Similarly, Minister for Labour, Employment, and Social Security, Sher Bahadur Kunwar underscored the need for conserving the festival while CPN (UML) leader Bhim Bahadur Rawal emphasized the conservation of the country's arts, culture, and language.
Former minister Chandra Dev Joshi, Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak, lawmaker Nira Devi Jairu, and CPN (Maoist Center) leader Khagaraj Bhatta expressed the hope that the festival would strengthen mutual love, faith, and relations among all Nepali people having different ethnicities, languages, and cultures. The Gaura festival was observed on Saturday. ---
