The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Tuesday confirmed the detection of 762 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 798,766. Additionally, 206 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.
Likewise, the MoHP has recorded Six deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The ministry on May 19 recorded 246 deaths, the highest daily number. As of Tuesday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 11,180. Presently, there are 16,248 active cases in Nepal.
Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have recorded 302 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 231 cases, Lalitpur logged 41 cases and Bhaktapur logged 30 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.
As many as 1,114 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Tuesday, a total of 771,338 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 96.6 per cent while the fatality rate is 1.4 per cent.
As of Tuesday, a total of 4,245,638 people have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 16,248 people staying in isolation while 237 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
Meanwhile, 2,796,171 people have been administered the first dose of Covishield vaccines and 1,546,784 have been vaccinated with the booster dose. Likewise, 5,117,384 people have been vaccinated with the first dose of the Vero Cell vaccine while 3,328,468 others have received the second dose as of October 5, 2021, the Ministry's data showed. Similarly, a total of 1,533,944 persons — 199,665 in Province 1; 361,566 in Province 2; 380,969 in Bagmati Province; 122,248 in Gandaki Province; 254,074 in Lumbini Province, 76,169 in Karnali Province, and 139,253 in Sudurpaschim Province — have been vaccinated with single-shot Janssen vaccines.
