In view of upcoming monsoon-related disasters, the government has ensured sufficient number of skilled human resources required for disaster management including search and rescue operation.
The number of skilled human resources has been increased to 11,663 this year from 1,484 of the previous year. This number is of trained human resources having expertise on disaster management.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), a total of 7,636 Nepali Army personnel have been kept in ready position for disaster management.
Likewise, 2,125 Nepal Police personnel and 1,903 APF, Nepal personnel would be deployed for the disaster risk management job. Another 74 rescue divers of the APF, Nepal are also kept in the ready position.
However, the number of the entire human resources would be changed on the basis of the level of the disasters.
CEO of the NDRRMA Anil Pokharel said that the police personnel would be mobilized in every district but the trained human resource would be deployed considering the specific disasters.
