Almost 600 houses have been flooded in East Kailali due to the incessant rainfall since Friday.
According to the police, more than 500 houses were inundated when Kandra and Patharia rivers flooded and water entered the settlement.
Around 160 houses were flooded when the water of the Patharia river in Bhajani Municipality-8 entered the settlement, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ved Prakash Joshi, spokesperson of District Police Office Kailali.
He further informed that the Sonaphanta tol, Dailekhi tol, Bhartan tol, Janakpur tol, and Chhacharhawa tol have been flooded. The water level of the river still continues to rise.
Similarly, 250 houses of Milanpur toll, Lalbozhi, and Puliapur toll have been inundated due to the rise in water level in Kandra river, while about 250 houses of Shibir tol, Ganeshman tol, and Dakshinpurwa tol of Bhajani Nagarpalika-7 have also been inundated due to the Kandra river flood.
According to the police, the work of rescuing those affected by the flood is going on.
