A motorable bridge constructed over the Begkhola stream at Raghuganga Municipality-1 in the district has come into operation.

The bridge is constructed as part of the Beni-Jomsom-Korala roadway. It falls under Kaligandaki corridor, a national pride project.

A bailey bridge over the stream was swept away by the floods seven years back, thereby causing sheer inconvenience and risk to the travelers and vehicles.

Supervisor of Beni-Jomsom-Korala road project, Indra Singh Sherchan, informed that the motorable bridge came into operation since yesterday. "Although access roads on either side of bridge are yet to be finalized, transportation was operated for now. With the construction of bridge, there is no risk of floods anymore."

The initial cost of the bridge was Rs 83 million. The construction of the bridge was begun two years back. It is 70-meter long and 11-meter wide.

Although the deadline of the undertaking was end of 2080BS, it was constructed before deadline, according to engineer Ashik Rijal from West Sector Office of Road Department.

BOKI/Himalayan JV was contracted for the construction.

Earlier, two such motorable bridges were constructed under the Beni-Jomsom-Korala roadway- one at Mahabhir and another at Pokharbagar.
