MoU signed for promoting peace and tolerance

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the federal parliament of Nepal and Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP).

In a function organized at New Baneswor-based federal parliamentary building on Monday, secretary of federal parliament, Gopalnath Yogi and GCTP manager, Dr Zoren Ilievski signed the MoU to this effect.

Established in 2017 AD to serve the objective of promoting values of peace and tolerance and conducting campaign against discrimination, racism and ethnic discrimination, the organization has been successful in building its image globally, in a very short span of time.

On the occasion, Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota expressed his confidence that the signing of MoU would help maintain global peace. He clarified that the MoU was signed with the GCTP as the organization's objectives are to empower the women, youth and people living with disability.

"Needless to say, what is the significance of peace and tolerance in the today's globe? he said, adding the programme would somehow contribute to consolidate global peace.

Nepal has undertaken several new and significant tasks in the 75-year of its political time, Sapkota said, adding backlog of Nepal's peace process are yet to be completed.

The Speaker expressed his hope that it would somehow contribute to the parliamentary practice of Nepal.

Earlier today, the GCTP delegation also paid a courtesy call on Speaker Sapkota.
