National Assembly Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timilsina met the first deputy prime minister of Spain, Carmen Calvo, in Portugal on Wednesday. A discussion was held on how the diplomatic relations between Nepal and Spain could be strengthened.
A Nepali team led by NA Chairperson Timilsina also met Chairperson of the regional government of Extremadura, Guillermo Fernandez Vara. The meeting was also attended by Nepali Ambassador to Spain, Dawa Futi Sherpa, mayors of different municipalities and representatives of Lumbini Garden Foundation. The Nepali delegation reached Spain on Tuesday to attend the Peace Conference to run for three days from Wednesday. It is organised by Lumbini Peace Foundation.
Foundation's General Secretary Ekraj Giri informed that the foundation had planned to set up the Lumbini Peace Garden at Crothers city of Spain at the cost of 70 million Euros. Chairperson Timilsina was there to launch the campaign for it, Giri added.
The delegation has members as Mayor of Lumbini Sanskitik Municipality, Manmohan Chaudhary; Mayor of Ramgram Municipality, Narendra Kumar Gupta; Mayor of Kapilvastu Municipality, Kiran Singh; Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Devdaha Municipality, Hira Bahadur Khatri and Bidhya Laxmi Gurung respectively; chief architect of Lumbini Peace Garden, Ujjwal Man Shakya and others.
