The eighth session of the National Assembly will start at 4 pm today. President Bidhya Devi Bhandari had called for a session of the National Assembly on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers on June 24.
There are chances that the meeting of the National Assembly, which is the Upper House of the Parliament of Nepal, will be limited to just formalities as the House of Representatives (HoR), which is the Lower House has been dissolved at the moment. The seventh session of the National Assembly which was held when the House was dissolved at the time was also limited to formalities only.
Dashrath Dhamala, Deputy Spokesperson of the Parliament Secretariat informed that preparations for the eighth session of the National Assembly have been completed. He also said antigen tests have been taken for all the members who will be participating in the session. Antigen tests for the coronavirus have also been taken for all media persons, security personnel and staff of the Secretariat who will be present during the session.
As per Dhamala, the session will hold discussions on the 19 Bills that have been forwarded to the assembly. He also mentioned that the proposals submitted by the various committees of the assembly and letters forwarded by the constitutional bodies will also be presented during the session.
