Chairperson of CPN UML KP Sharma Oli has said conservation of nature and human beings is imperative for development and prosperity.
At a programme organized by the Tulsilal Memorial Foundation and the All Nepal Women Association on the occasion of the World Environment Day here Sunday, the former prime minister said, "If the environmental issues are ignored, development carries no meaning. He reminded that although Sagarmatha Dialogue was proposed during his premiership in 2020 focusing on mountains and the environment, it was postponed due to COVID-19.
Degradation of the environment would pose a severe threat to human civilization, according to him.
Chairperson Oli further viewed environment conservation as one of the agendas of SDGs to be achieved by 2030. He further recollected that he had made clear to the world community on climate change issues in the Himalayan countries like Nepal with his participation in the global forums.
