According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ambassador/Permanent Representative of Nepal and Belize to the United Nations respectively signed a joint statement on April 1.
At a press conference held at the ministry today, Spokesperson Seva Lamsal said that the expansion of diplomatic and diplomatic relations with Nepal has further broadened Nepal's image internationally. Giving an update on the recent activities and progress of the ministry, she said that the three-day official visit of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to India from April 1 to 3 had resulted in discussions on multi-faceted areas between the two countries.
Spokesperson Lamsal said that Speaker of the House of Representatives, Agni Prasad Sapkota, had a virtual meeting with Li Zhanshu, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China, on April 8. On the occasion, the two sides exchanged views on various aspects of Nepal-China relations and stressed on the need for continuous exchange of high-level visits between the parliaments of the two countries.
Similarly, on March 30, Prime Minister Deuba had virtually addressed the 5th Summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC). Prime Minister Deuba expressed the view that BIMSTEC member countries should take collective action in the areas of cooperation such as trade, investment, energy, connectivity, climate change and people-to-people contacts.
Following the virtual ceremony, the summit passed the BIMSTEC Charter. On behalf of Nepal, the Prime Minister had signed the charter. Foreign Minister Dr Narayan Khadka and others were present on behalf of Nepal at the summit held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Similarly, at the friendly invitation of Foreign Minister Dr. Khadka, State Councilor of the People's Republic of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi visited Nepal from March 25 to 27. On the occasion, important aspects of Nepal-China relations and cooperation were discussed between the two sides and the importance of exchanging high-level visits to further enhance bilateral relations was emphasized.
