Nepal's Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Sunday reported 1,694 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 608,472. Additionally, 4,889 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.
Likewise, the Health Ministry has recorded 46 deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The ministry on May 19 recorded 246 deaths, the highest daily number. As of Sunday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 8,412. Presently, there are 68,955 active cases in Nepal.
Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have logged 653 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu registered 483 cases, Lalitpur logged 112 cases and Bhaktapur logged 58 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.
According to the health ministry, a total of 12,406 tests were done in the past 24 hours. Of them, 7517 was RT-PCR while 4889 were Antigen Tests.
As many as 3,994 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Sunday, a total of 531,105 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 87.3 per cent.
As of Sunday, a total of 3,214,725 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 68,955 persons staying in isolation while 548 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
More than 175.76 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 3,954,147 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, December-2019, a Reuters tally showed as of 4:38 pm, on Sunday, June 13, 2021.
The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
