Nepal's Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Wednesday reported 9,238 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 422,349. Additionally, 67 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.
Likewise, the Health Ministry has also recorded 168 deaths from COVID-19 including the data from COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre (CCMC) and Nepali Army's dead body management statistics in the past 24 hours. As of Wednesday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 4,252. The ministry had reported 225 deaths on Tuesday. Presently, there are 101,634 active cases in Nepal.
Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have recorded 3,924 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu registered 3,250 cases, Lalitpur 448 cases and Bhaktapur registered 226 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.
As many as 4,444 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Wednesday, a total of 316,463 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 74.9 per cent.
Earlier, the MoHP on Tuesday had reported 9,317 cases of coronavirus infection that had taken the nationwide tally to 413,111.
As of Wednesday, a total of 2,693,088 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 101,634 persons staying in isolation while 517 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
More than 159.59 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 3,455,116 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed as of 2:57 pm, on Wednesday, May 12, 2021.
The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
