With the increase in the number of corona virus infections in the neighboring country India, its effects have started to be seen in Nepal as well, and the infection has started to increase in Nepal. It is said that the infection has started to increase as Nepal can easily come from India due to the open border.
Even in Nepal, Omicron's 'Via Five' species has been found and the transmission rate of this species is high, and now the infection is increasing in Nepal. Earlier, the infection rate here was down to 0.5 percent, but now it has reached over 15 percent. On July 18, 915 were infected, on July 17, 814, on July 16, 895 were infected and one person died.
Similarly, on 15th of July, 620 people died, on 14th of July, 438 and two people died, on 13th of July, 577 people and two people died, on 12th of July, 710 and two people died, on 11th of July, 564 and one person died. One person died, on July 10, 638 and two people died. In this way, the infection has started to increase daily and reach close to a thousand.
As daily infections are increasing, it is thought that the fourth wave of infection has come somewhere in Nepal. Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari, co-spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population, said that the graph shows the wave of infection and the current graph of infection indicates another wave.
He said that the government did not officially call it the fourth wave of infection and the graph of infection only tells the wave. "We did not say the wave of infection even though the graph increased earlier. Even now we are not saying”, he said, “but now the infection graph itself has shown another wave.”
Dr. Khageswar Gelal, senior health administrator of the Epidemiology and Communicable Disease Control Division of the Department of Health Services, says that the daily increase in infections now indicates the fourth wave.
"The government has not officially called the fourth wave. But now the daily number of thousand has indicated the fourth wave of infection", he said, "If the infection starts to increase like this, it cannot be said that the fourth wave will not come."
He says that the infection will peak in July and August and then decline. Due to the open border, the infection is seen in people coming from the border daily. It is those people who are spreading the infection.
Public health expert Dr. Sagarraj Bhandari says that the fourth wave of corona virus infection has started since July. "If the infection rate is above 5 percent, then another wave has come", he said, "Looking at the current infection situation in Nepal, it is around 15 percent."
He says that the current level of infection will decrease again after reaching the upper level (peak level). He says that India's open borders and infected people from abroad spread the infection. According to him, even though the currently seen 'Va5' variant can quickly spread to humans, it does not make the infected person serious. He requested to implement the public health standards and apply the fourth booster of the corona virus as the number of infected people is increasing.
The infection was confirmed for the first time in Nepal on January 9, 2076. The second infected person was seen on the 10th of March. The government imposed a nationwide lockdown after the second case of infection.
The first wave of the virus in Nepal lasted from March 2076 to December 2077. According to the co-spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari, the second wave of infection was seen from April 2077 to August and the third wave from January to February 2078. The ministry has also given instructions to all hospitals, health institutions and designated Covid-19 hospitals in the province to manage infected people, taking into account the risk of possible infection.
Similarly, the ministry has made arrangements for the treatment of corona virus patients in 17 hospitals across the country, taking into account the possible risks. The ministry has requested the mandatory use of masks and sanitizers in crowded places after the spread of the corona virus.
It has been requested to make the use of masks mandatory in all government and non-government offices and places where there are crowds of people and arrange for sanitizers in crowded events such as conferences, seminars and meetings in public transport including airports and air.
Likewise, all those who are yet to be vaccinated have been urged to get vaccinated while giving instructions to effectively conduct the vaccination program against Covid-19.
Most of the dead were unvaccinated
For six months, no one had died due to the corona virus infection. But in recent days, one or two people have been dying from the infection every day. People started dying from infection from 1st of July.
Recently, it has been found that 80 percent of those who died due to corona virus infection were not vaccinated. The head of the department, Dr. Gelal, informed that 80 percent of those who died due to infection were not vaccinated and 20 percent were not vaccinated in full.
