The Department of Transport Management has stated that regular and smooth distribution of smart vehicle licenses will start from May. Announcing the progress report of one year, Director General of the Department Namaraj Ghimire said that about 280,000 licenses for 2021 and about 100,000 for 2022 are yet to be printed.

"The department has sent a proposal to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport that the job of printing smart licenses can be given to the private sector just like passports," said Ghimire.

The department has claimed that those who renew it after May will get a smart license within a month. "We have sent a proposal to the ministry that it can be delivered to the house for a fee," said Director General Ghimire.

According to him, the application for new vehicle license will also be open from May. Ghimire said that the examination will be held with 572,000 candidates who have already filled the form by May.

"Currently, only 6,000 people are participating in the exam daily. Now we will increase the capacity to 15,000," said Ghimire. He claimed that the service flow was more effective than it is now. "In the application system, applicants will be able to see the available vacancies within 15 days in any of the transport offices across the country and they will be able to apply online and pay the fee immediately," he said.
