Nine arrested for gang-raping 16-year-old girl in Surkhet

Police have arrested nine people on charge of gang-raping a 16-year-old girl in Surkhet district.

Those arrested for heinous crimes have been identified as Dambar Badi, Ganesh Badi, Yubaraj Shahi, Shova Shahi alias Khagendra, Baburam Puri, Prem Budhathoki, Sher Bahadur Karki, Om Darlami, and Prem Bahadur Shahi, Said DSP Padam Bahadur Bista, at Surkhet District Police.

The medical test of the victim tested positive, informed Bista. The victim is a resident of Panchapuri Municipality at the district has stated that she was raped repeatedly by different people. Acting on the complaint, a team deployed from the Babiyachaur-based Area Police Office nabbed all the accused.

In the complaint, the teenager has mentioned that abusers lured her by promising to give her chocolate, biscuits, noodles, and money.

The victim’s father has passed away while her mother abandoned her and married someone else. After that, she had come to live at mother’s in-law house, said Inspector Kanak Shahi at Surkhet District Police Investigation Officer.

After filing the complaint, the victim herself helped the Babiyachaur police to identify the accused.

The other rape accused is yet to be arrested, informed the police.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway after extending additional custody from Surkhet District Court.
