Nine houses swept away by Kaligandaki River in Setibeni

The flood in the Kaligandaki River due to the continuous rainfall since Saturday has washed away nine houses in Setibeni, which lies in the confluence of Parbat, Syangja, and Gulmi districts. Eight houses in Galyang Municipality-8 of Syangja and one house in Bihadi Rural Municipality-1 of Parbat have been swept away by the Kaligandaki River.

The floodwaters in the Kaligandaki River on Tuesday morning has entered 15 houses in the area and damaged them. The police have informed that families who have been displaced have been moved to safer locations. The water from the floods in the Kaligandaki and Seti rivers has started flowing over the bridge connecting Parbat and Syangja imperiling the lives of the locals. As the floodwaters started entering the houses locals have already shifted necessary belongings to safer places, the police said.

The area of Setibeni towards Syangja is in danger of getting completely displaced. The police in Setibeni have asked the locals to be cautious and alerted them to move to safer locations.
