Vehicle parking will be prohibited on the side of the main market of Pokhara. Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality issued a notice on Monday and announced that it has decided to prohibit parking in the main marketplace. The city council has decided to completely prohibit parking in the main urban area Prithvichok-Sabhagrihachok, New Road, VP choke, Chipledhunga, Mahendrapul, Nayabazar, Prithvichok road sections from this January 23rd.
"Dhanraj Acharya, head of Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality, said that parking has been completely prohibited on the roads of the mentioned places as the traffic has increased on the roads of the main urban areas and has directly affected the traffic as well as the urban beautification has also been affected."
The notice also mentions that parking can be done in the vacant land reserved for parking purposes by the metropolis and around the main road, and no more than the fee set by the
metropolis can be charged for parking in those places. All stakeholders have been requested to manage 'parking' only in the areas specified in the notification.
