‘Number of COVID infections to drop after four weeks’

The government has made estimation that the number of people being infected with the coronavirus will start declining after four weeks. At present, the daily average of people being infected with COVID-19 stands at 8,300 but the government says this number will drop after four weeks.

During a press meet today, Minister of Health and Population Hridayesh Tripathi, said that though the prohibitory order is in place some services have been allowed to remain open. As a result, the number of infections hasn’t dropped to the expected level at present.

He also informed that the government has signed agreements with 45 hospitals so far for the treatment of patients infected with COVID-19. The minister also mentioned that free treatment is being provided in these hospitals.

Minister Tripathi also mentioned that a white paper will soon be released regarding the expenses made by the government to control the coronavirus and for the treatment of patients infected with the contagion.

He also informed that the ministry has been studying the suggestions and recommendations that have been provided regarding the implementation of health emergency in Nepal.
