Research has shown that infections of the omicron variant of the coronavirus are growing faster than others. At a regular press conference held by the Ministry of Health and Population yesterday, Infectious Diseases Specialist Prof Dr. Janak Koirala of the Patan Institute of Health Sciences and Nepal Health Research Council said that the Omicron variant (third wave) would infect more people than previously seen. According to him, the Omicron variant transmits the infection from one person to 10 people.

"The first wave of infection transmitted from one person to two people, the second wave from delta virus to four to five people," he said. So it spreads very fast. ”

Today, the infection has been confirmed in 3,075 people on the same day. He says that one should be careful to avoid the Omicron variant. "It is a contagious disease and we have to be careful to avoid it," he said.

If you wash your hands regularly, go to crowded places, and wear a mask properly, you can avoid infection. More and more people should be vaccinated to avoid such omicron variants. Omicron infection is an infection of the upper respiratory tract caused by a cold in humans.

“Colds are more likely to be spread by sticking to the infected tube. While the delta virus directly affects the lungs, "said Dr. Koirala, an infectious disease specialist. He says that the Omicron variant will not make the vaccinated person so difficult.

10 times more infections if not vaccinated

"Studies have shown that people who are not vaccinated against the coronavirus are 10 times more likely to be infected than those who are not vaccinated," he said. According to him, those who have not been vaccinated with the Omicron variant are 17 times more likely to be hospitalized and 20 times more likely to die. He said that he could win by getting two vaccinations.
