Over 35,000 people to be vaccinated in Province 1

Thirty-five thousand people deputed in the frontline in treatment of patients and sanitation workers will receive the Covishield vaccine in Province 1. 

A total of 35,576 people including 34,851 health workers and staff, women health volunteers of government and private hospitals under Province 1 will be provided with the vaccine.

Administrative Officer of Provincial Health Supply Management Centre, Biratnagar, Kashiraj Parajuli, said that they have received only 9,600 vials of the vaccine in the first phase sent by the Health Service Department under the Ministry of Health and Population. 

He added that the centre has received the vaccines sent for 16 districts of Province 1 and Siraha and Saptari districts of Province 2. 

A total of 14,003 health workers and employees of government and private hospitals of Taplejung, 831 of Dhankuta, 1,237 of Udayapur, 1,176 of Bhojpur, 12,056 of Morang, 1,690 of Ilam, 1,366 of Okhaldhunga, 1,600 of Khotang, 4,977 of Jhapa, 723 of Tehrathum, 949 of Sankhuwasabha, 686 of Solu, 5,233 of Sunsari and 5,924 of Panchthar of Province 1 will be vaccinated.
