More than 500,000 people have registered applications for new driving licence.

Service recipients have filled up forms through transport management offices across the country to attend examination for driving licence.

The government had halted the task of receiving applications for new driving license since mid-March last year due to COVID-19 fear.

Information Officer at the Department of Transport Management, Loknath Bhusal was quoted in Rastriya Samachar Samiti as saying that the flow was high as the application process for the licence was held after a 10-month hiatus. He shared that arrangement has been made in a way to enable applicants to register their applications for 24 hours and all seven days. “The service recipients can submit application for licence in their suitable time”.

Earlier, the Department had opened up online registration of application at a certain time. It was difficult for the service recipients to fill up the forms at once due to over subscription.

The department's spokesperson Bhusal shared that trouble in submitting application has been removed right now. “Complaints on difficulty in registering application for licence have gradually come down”.

The application for driving licence had been opened up since mid-December 2020 in coordination between the office under the Province government and the department under the federal government. As per the Constitution of Nepal, responsibility regarding licence has been shared between the federal and province governments. The Nepal government had handed over the concerned offices to province government.
