Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane said the parliament should not be held hostage anymore.

Addressing a public gathering in Birtamodh, Jhapa on Friday, he viewed that the parliament should not be obstructed due to political pull and push.

"People's agendas should be raised", he said, adding, "Let the parliament as the people's space should remain open", Lamichhane added.

The CPN-UML has been continuously obstructing the parliament  demanding a high-level probe commission to investigate the recent gold smuggling scam.

Due to disruption, the parliament has not entered into the agendas put forth by Speaker Devraj Ghimire on last July 26.

President Lamichhane, also the former deputy prime minister and home minister, claimed the trend of brain drain has increased in the country as the youths have lost their confidence to do something in the country.

Also speaking on the occasion were RSP general-secretary Dr Mukul Dhakal, federal parliament chief whip Santosh Pariyar, parliamentarian Nisha Dangi and central member Ramesh Prasain among others.

President Lamichhane is scheduled to address eight programmes in Jhapa in next two days. ---
