When the passport service has been closed for three and a half months in Baitadi, the service recipients are in trouble. The District Administration Office, Baitadi, had stopped issuing MRP passports on November 20 for issuing electronic passports.
Citizens of the districts who are preparing to go abroad are facing problems due to the lack of connection of the electronic passport issuance system for a long time. According to Khagendra Bharti, Information Officer at the District Administration Office, Baitadi, the work of quick recommendation of other passports and collection of ordinary passport forms has been stopped since November. He said, "MRP has been stopped for issuing electronic passports, but the distribution of electronic passports has not started yet."
Though the government has taken the strategy of distributing electronic passports from each district administration office, it has been delayed due to the non-arrival of the technical team to connect the system, said Information Officer Bharti. At present, electronic passports are being distributed only in the Kailali and Kanchanpur districts of the far west.
