Today, the last day of Tihar, also known as Yamapanchak, (Bhaitika) the festival of brotherhood is being celebrated. On this day the sisters put tika on their brothers wishing them a long life.

Prof. Dr Ram Chandra Gautam, a theologian and former chairman of the Nepal Panchang Judging Committee, said that there is a classical belief that worshiping sisters bring unbroken happiness and prosperity. The time of best time for putting tike is at 11:02 am, said Prof. Shrikrishna Adhikari, Chairman of the Committee.

Rani Pokhari is open for those who do not have sisters and brothers

It is customary to open the Balgopaleshwar temple in the middle of Ranipokhari, Kathmandu for those who do not have sisters. On the day of Bhaitika, the people who do not have brothers and sisters go to this temple to worship.
