Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is currently in Dhangadhi in Sudurpaschim, is keeping busy meeting party cadres and leaders at present.
PM Deuba, who is contesting for the post of member of House of Representatives (HoR) from Dadeldhura in the upcoming November 20 parliamentary elections is specially prioritizing meetings of party's disgruntled cadres and leaders.
The septuagenarian leader returned to Dhangadi on Monday from his home district Dadeldhura after running an election campaign there. Deuba is busy in meetings with leaders and cadres who were discontented with ticket distribution for the upcoming elections.
The House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly elections are scheduled to be held on November 20 this year in a single phase.
Deuba is also taking stock about the election situation and party's election-oriented activities for the poll. According to NC leader Govindaraj Joshi, Deuba urged him to call off his candidacy as an independent candidate and run the election representing the ruling coalition.
"The party President summoned me today and asked me to withdraw my candidacy as an independent candidate. He asked me to join the NC which I turned down, saying I have already moved ahead towards this and let me contest the election as an independent candidate," Joshi shared.
Joshi is contesting from Kailali constituency no 3 for Province Assembly member. NC's Laxman Shahi is also running as an independent candidate from the same constituency while the ruling coalition has given ticket to Amar Bahadur Saud of CPN (Unified Socialist).
NC's youth leader Kshitiz Bhandari resigned from his party and is contesting as an independent candidate to the Province Assembly from Kailali constituency no 5 (Dhangadi area).
Pushkarnath Ojha, who had defeated his rival Nepali Congress's Dr Arzu Rana Deuba, in the last parliamentary election in 2017, is contesting as an independent candidate from Kailali constituency no 5 to HoR member this time.
NC has fielded Dilliraj Pant for the post of HoR member from the same constituency this election.
NC President Deuba is holding dialogue with leaders and cadres supporting Ojha in order to woo them back to the party.
