PM Dahal Launches NRN Citizenship

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is to inaugurate the distribution of citizenship to Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) from today.

PM Dahal is scheduled to inaugurate the distribution of citizenship at 7:00 am today at the official residence of the Prime Minister at Baluwatar, said PM Dahal's press coordinator Surya Kiran Sharma.

Meanwhile, the 11th Global Conference of Non Resident Nepali Association and NRNA International General Assembly is taking place from today itself. The government is going to start distribution of citizenship to NRNs on the same day.

Meanwhile, entire preparations for the 11th NRNA Global Conference and Third Global NRN Knowledge Conference have been completed, shared by the NRNA by organising a new conference on Monday. The conference is taking place in Kathmandu from October 17-20.

President Ramchandra Paudel is scheduled to inaugurate the conference while Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal would conclude the conference on October 3, according to the NRNA.

The 11th NRNA Global Conference is going to be organised under the main slogan 'For Nepali By Nepali' and third Global Knowledge Conference under the theme 'Knowledge and Transformation: The Foundation of Prosperity'.

In the course of the NRNA Conference, there will be the Global Knowledge Conference, Youth Conference as well as special sessions on Foreign Employment and Social Security Fund, Citizenship Act and voting rights to the NRNs on October 17 and 18.

Likewise, Spokesperson of NRNA Som Sapkota said that there will be an election on October 19 for the new leadership of the NRNA.

Online voting is a new feature in this year's election and will be open for 24 hours where a total of 4,227 representatives from 59 different countries will take part in the online voting through facial verification app. Voters will receive a link to the app 24 hours before voting, and they can cast their votes after facial verification.

Online voting allows representatives from around the world to participate from their locations. However, candidates, proposers, and seconders are required to visit the convention site for registration and verification.

Representatives at the convention site will have access to computers for online voting at specified locations.

Approximately 1,500 candidates and voters are expected to vote from the conference site.

Five individuals are vying for the position of NRNA president, including the incumbent NRNA presidents Badri KC and Rabina Thapa, vice presidents Mahesh Shrestha and RK Sharma, and deputy general secretary Binaya Adhikari.
