Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the short-tempered sensations to be spread through social networking sites could lead to social distortions.

Addressing a program organized by Nar Bahadur Karmacharya Memorial Foundation in the Capital City on Saturday, the PM said the social sites are being used by the intelligence community to express their short-tempered emotions instead of utilizing such public platforms developed by science and technology.

"A risk factor has been created whether the entire politics of the country and the process of economic development would be pushed to devastation, getting digressed from ideals, principles, norms, and values," the PM cautioned.

A trend has been developed to promote sentiments, emotions, and anarchic moves instead of prioritizing ideology, principles, and agendas. "Interventions are required from the intellectual sides," the PM stressed.

At present, people's focus has shifted towards social networking sites instead of ideological debates, thereby creating a context that could replace the mainstream media, the PM worried.

The PM expressed his concern, saying that anarchic moves were being carried out to substitute the roles of those figures who had fought long for democracy and sovereignty. "The intellectual class should pay heed to this," he argued.

On the occasion, the PM, who is also the CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman, said that April 22 is the day to ponder the communist movement and added that all the left-inclined political parties should devote themselves to leftist forces' polarization by reviewing the weaknesses of the past.

He said that ideological unity of the communist parties was needed as the communist movement was still popular among the people.

During his speech, the PM also recalled the revolutionary figure late Karmacharya and termed him as a transparent personality who had a direct role in the labor movement.

Also speaking at the program, the Chairman of Pushpalal Memorial Foundation and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said that having several parties under the communist banner was unfortunate and argued that a new party was formed to advance the communist movement as problems surfaced because of a certain politician.

Chairman of CPN (Unified Socialist) Madhav Kumar Nepal said that the communist parties should move ahead by ensuring cooperation on several issues of nation, nationality, national interest, and public welfare.

Likewise, the Founder Chairman of Nar Bahadur Karmacharya Memorial Foundation and Deputy Prime Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha argued that the country should be headed to the path of socialism by safeguarding the existing achievements.

He also called upon the communist political parties for their self-assessment and work to ensure the relevance of transformation. "For this, rejuvenation of the communist movement is required," Shrestha said.
