PM Oli forms 17-member Cabinet

Three DPM, 12 ministers, two state ministers in the Council of Ministers

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has formed the Council of Ministers with the inclusion of lawmakers of Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal led by Mahantha Thakur.

The 17-member Council of Ministers has been formed with three deputy prime minister, 12 ministers and two state ministers.

Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal lawmakers have been allocated eight federal ministerial berths and two state ministerial positions.

Prime Minister Oli has kept the responsibility of ministries including Defence; Home Affairs; Communication and Information Technology; Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation; Agriculture and Livestock Development; Industry, Commerce and Supplies and Federal Affairs and General Administration with himself.

In the Cabinet formed today, Bishnu Poudel has been appointed as deputy minister and also accorded with the responsibility of handling the Ministry of Finance. Rajendra Mahato has been appointed deputy prime minister and also accorded with the responsibility of handling the Ministry of Urban Development.

Likewise, Raghubir Mahaseth has also been appointed deputy prime minister and minister for Foreign Affairs.

Krishna Gopal Shrestha has retained the post of Minister for Education, Science and Technology and Basanta Kumar Nembang has also retained the post of minister for Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport.

Lilanath Shrestha is the minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs. Similarly, Sarat Singh Bhandari has been appointed Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation and Anil Jha as Minister for Water Supply and Sanitation.

Likewise, Laxman Lal Karna has been appointed Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation while Bimal Srivastav minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security, Uma Shankar Argariya as Minister for Forests and Environment and Chanda Chaudhary as Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizen, Iqbal Miya as Minister for Youth and Sports while Chandrakant Chaudhary has been appointed state minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation and Renuka Gurung as state minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizen.
