Pokhara Plane Crash: 22 bodies handed to relatives

Bodies of 22 persons among those deceased in the crash of the 9-N-ANC-ATR-72-500 plane belonging to the Yeti Airlines in Pokhara were handed over to the families and relatives.

Assistant Chief District Officer of Kaski, Anil Kumar Shahi informed that all the bodies completed with post-mortem procedures in Pokhara were handed to the relatives.

According to him, preparation was being made to send one more body found at the crash site on Tuesday to Kathmandu for post-mortem examination.

Earlier, 48 bodies retrieved from the crash site of the Seti River gorge were airlifted to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu for examination.

As informed, post-mortem of the bodies of foreign nationals, crew members, and those unaccounted for would be performed in Kathmandu.

Apparently, it would take some more days for the relatives to receive the bodies as a DNA test has to be undertaken to identify some deceased.

District Police Office Kaski chief, SP Ajaya KC informed that a search for a person who went missing in the air crash was underway. ---
