The District Police Office has started increasing surveillance to bring the driver of the vehicle under the influence of alcohol under the scope of action. The Nepal Police has stepped up surveillance to take precautionary measures as people have complained that some people were driving under the influence of alcohol on the Pasanglamu Highway.
According to District Police Chief Devendra Pandey, the police have started a vigil after receiving information that some drivers carrying passengers on the Rasuwa road had stopped their vehicles and consumed alcohol.
Police have started surveillance on both the drivers who consume alcohol and the sellers who sell them liquor. Police have been urging the drivers not to drink alcohol while driving and not to pick up their mobile phones while driving. Police have requested drivers to stop the vehicle before talking on the phone.
Locals have responded that the police surveillance time has been relevant as drivers tend to pick up the mobile phone with one hand and turn the steering wheel with the other.
If the driver is found to have consumed alcohol, the passengers are requested to report to the mobile number 9851275555 of the District Police Office as soon as possible, said Police Chief Pandey. As it is the common responsibility of all to protect the livelihood of common people, the police have requested drivers to abide by the traffic rules.
