President Bidya Devi Bhandari attended the 'Basanta Shrawan' ritual organized at Nasal Chowk located in Hanumandhoka Durbar Square today.
On the occasion of the Basanta Panchami festival, President Bhandari reached the Nasal Chowk where the priest at Hanumandhoka Durbar Supervision Office, Devraj Aryal, recited the 'Basanta' verses at 10:47 am, the auspicious hour. The hymns are written by Jaydev Panta in ancient times.
Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Speaker Devraj Ghimire, National Assembly Chair Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, Acting Chief Justice Hari Krishna Karki, Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers, heads of constitutional bodies, as well as other high-ranking officials were present on the occasion.
As per the tradition, the head of the state and government, along with high-ranking government officials attend the Basanta Shrawan ritual at Nasal Chowk on the occasion of Basanta Panchami every year.
People also worship Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge and wisdom, today on the occasion of the Shree Panchami festival.
