President Ramchandra Paudel is holding consultations with the stakeholders for the past couple of days on the Citizenship Bill.
The President on Wednesday met with constitution and legal experts and sought their views about sovereignty of parliament adding that what could happen if a bill passed from parliament and approved by the Speaker is left in limbo without its authentication from the President.
President's press advisor Kiran Pokharel said that the President had raised his concerns about the people's elected institution if this trend continued in the future as well.
Likewise, President Paudel has shared that a constitutional basis was imperative to safeguard the parliamentary system as he was protector and implementer of the constitution and promoter of national unity.
"The bill is not rejected but is stored in the cupboard; whether or not to open its key," the President questioned.
The President held consultations with the experts in his bid to seek a solution to this crisis so that the future President would not act in such a way.
On the occasion, the President sought the views of legal experts on whose property is the bill--of parliament, government or president?
In the consultation meeting, Dr Bipin Adhikari, Dr Rudra Sharma and Krishna Basyal were present.
It is said that the experts have shared mixed views on the President's concerns regarding the authentication of the bill.
