President, PM send message on Buddha Jayanti and Ubhauli

President Bidya Devi Bhandari has expressed her best wishes for happiness, peace, and prosperity to all Nepalis in Nepal and abroad on the occasion of the 2566th birth anniversary of Gautam Buddha, the propounder of Buddhist philosophy and the pioneer of world peace.

In her message, the President has said it was a matter of pride for all that Nepal is the birthplace of the Gautam Buddha.

The President believes that if we can imbibe in the teachings and guidelines of the apostle of peace, we will be able to consolidate our national unity and help promote world peace by enhancing the spirit of mutual goodwill, tolerance, and brotherhood with our cultural and social diversity.

Likewise, the President stated that the concerned should work for the appropriate development and conservation of cultural and archeological sites related to the Buddhist religion spread across the country. The President also gave her best wishes to all Nepalis for building a prosperous, equitable, civilized, and cultured society on the occasion of the Ubhauli Festival of the Kirant community.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has extended greetings on the occasion of the 2566th Buddha Purnima today.

Issuing a message of best wishes on 2566th Buddha Jayanti today, PM Deuba wished world peace, co-existence, tolerance, brotherhood, and fraternity in the world.

PM Deuba also expressed his best wishes to all and wished that Buddha Purnima would inspire all to promote unity and mutual respect in the entire human community. The PM said, "I wish happiness, peace, and progress to all Nepalis and Buddhist communities at home and abroad on the birthday of Lord Buddha, the apostle of peace, non-violence, and compassion."

The full moon day of Nepali month Baisakh coincides with the day when Lord Buddha was born, attained enlightenment, and mahaparinirvan (passing away) took place, Deuba said in his message that this day has been inspiring all to move towards peace, non-violence, compassion, goodwill, and self-realization since ancient time.
