President Ram Chandra Paudel said that with the demise of Chairperson of the Constituent Assembly, former Speaker and CPN UML Vice-Chairperson Subash Nembang, the country lost a good leader who heartily embraced democratic republic.
Nembang passed away on September 12 at the age of 71.
Sending a condolence message to the bereaved family of late Nembang here Sunday, President Paudel acknowledged late Nembang as a person well-versed in Nepal's political and legal field and the one who would ever be ready to play the role of a facilitator especially during the time of political crisis in the country.
"Nepal and the Nepalis would never forget the role played by late Nembang as the Speaker and Chairperson of the Constituent Assembly to promulgate the constitution through the Constituent Assembly that was long awaited by the Nepali people. Nembang, whether he was assuming public post or not, had an identity of a coordinator and possessed a clean and honest image," stated the condolence message.
President Paudel in the condolence message further stated, "I found Nembang not only a decent leader and someone who could play a coordinator role in numerous politically tumultuous periods in Nepal, but also someone who could lead other leaders in the right path."
He further said that the memories relating to late Nembang during struggles to establish democracy, promulgation of constitution and collaboration on parliamentary activities would always remain fresh in his mind. Praying for the eternal peace of late Nembang, President Paudel paid tribute to him and extended condolences to the bereaved families, supporters of democracy and republic system and well wishers.
Paudel's daughters Sharmila Paudel and Abagya Paudel, experts and advisors of Paudel visited Nembang's house and handed over the condolence message to Nembang's family on Sunday.
