The government on Tuesday hiked the public transport fare by 3.5 percent again. On April 30 the government decided to implement an automated pricing system. Under the system, the fare price would be adjusted every time the price of petroleum products goes up by more than 5 per cent.
Accordingly, the Department of Transport Management under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport of the federal government made the announcement on Tuesday.
With that, the prices for load-carrying vehicles have gone up by 4.6 per cent and 5.1 per cent respectively in hilly and plain regions.
And as per the notice from the Department, the revised fares will come into effect from Wednesday, the department said in a notice.
