Speaker Debraj Ghimire said migration from mountainous districts would not be checked until and unless improvement was made in the educational quality of public schools.
Migration was taking place from mountainous districts to Terai and urban areas in search of quality education, he said, underlining the need of bringing reforms in the education sector to check migration.
In his address to the diamond jubilee of the Mahendra Vidhyabodh Secondary School at Chhatradev Rural Municipality in Arghakhanchi today, Speaker Ghimire said all three tiers of the government – federal, province and local should lay emphasis on improving quality of education and health.
He also highlighted the urgency of creating self-employment opportunities through improvement in education and health as well as engagement in agriculture and livestock sectors.
On the occasion, educationists and guardians, former teachers and donors who had contributions to the establishment of the school were honoured.
