Rani Mahal turned into a museum

Rani Mahal in Palpa, known as the Taj Mahal of Nepal, has been developed as a palace museum. In the palace built by Khadga Shamsher, materials like rents, idols, conch shells and Shaligram used by him are kept.

Chief of Tansen Municipality Ashok Kumar Shahi said that sanitation, drinking water, electricity, internet camera and other materials were managed in the first phase.

Stating that the work started from Rs. 1.5 million has already cost around Rs. 3.5 to 4 million, Mayor Shahi said that the budget will be increased as the amount is not enough. He said that an estimated budget of more than Rs. 100 million is required for the complete development of Rani Mahal.

Municipal official Shankar Bhandari said that the palace could be developed as a museum after two months of continuous hard work. He said that 166 missing archeological materials have been returned and kept in the museum.

In 1894, Khadga Shamsher, the commander-in-chief of Palpa Gowda, built the Rani Mahal in memory of his late queen Tej Kumari. The foundation stone was laid in 1950 BS and the palace was built on the rock of Kaligandaki in 1954 BS.

In 1904, Shri Chandra Shamsher came to know that Khadga Shamsher had conspired to occupy his position and the valley. Chandra Shamsher sent troops to Palpa and took the deployment in his hands. There is a historical statement that he fled to India with the government treasury after the alarm bells rang.

Rani Mahal, located between Baugha Gumha of Tansen Municipality and Khanigaun Village of Baganaskali Municipality, is the first choice of the youth. Rani Mahal, which is very important in terms of religion and tourism, is located at a distance of 13 kilometers from Tansen, the headquarters of Palpa.
