Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya has said the role of Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) was unparalleled in creating an election friendly environment in the country.
Receiving the RSS report regarding news related to the election and election activities carried by the National News Agency in the context of the election to the Member of House of Representatives and Province Assembly held on November 20 at the Election Commission today, Chief Commissioner Thapaliya shared that RSS collected news and information about election of grass root-level and disseminated them at a time when there are few agencies collecting news but many agencies disseminating the news.
He also expressed the belief that the election-related materials disseminated by RSS during the election would be useful for study and history writing, adding RSS has again demonstrated its capacity during the election.
Expressing gratitude to RSS for its work, the Chief Election Commissioner expressed commitment to provide other possible infrastructure support for the state-owned news agency.
There would be continuous support and collaboration with RSS even after the election as software is important for election publicity, he mentioned, stating, "Election should be taken as the lifestyle of the people. The EC will remain active continuously even after the election. The EC will manage the organization again for the regular coordination and contact with mass media and social networks for the same. "
Handing over the 1,100-page report of the news disseminated by RSS in two months' period of election, RSS Executive Chair Dharmendra Jha thanked the EC for its trust and support to RSS.
Chair Jha expected collaboration with EC even after the election period, saying RSS collected news of grass root level and disseminated it in a balanced manner.
Similarly, Deputy General Manager of RSS, Somnath Lamichhane, shared that RSS disseminated around 6,000 photos and 1,500 videos during the election period.
Election Commissioner Dr Janaki Kumari Tuladhar, Joint-Secretary Shaligram Sharma Poudel, RSS General Manager Siddharaj Rai, EC's Under-secretaries-- Surya Prasad Aryal and Kamal Bhattarai, RSS Board member Krishna Adhikari, Chief Reporter Uttam Silwal and Chief of Administration, Sheetal Mahato, among others were present on the occasion.
