The Supreme Court Bar Association of Nepal has expressed its serious concern over the assassination of two women justices of Supreme Court of Afghanistan in a rebel attack in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan on January 17. "Physical attack against the justices, legal practitioners and other legal personalities for performing their judicial assignment is nothing but the brutal attack against the humanity and the rule of law," reads a statement issued by the Association.
The internal, external or any sort of intervention against the independence of judiciary as well as any type of physical attacks against the justices, law practitioners and legal personalities cannot be acceptable. Seriously condemning the incident, the Bar Association has said that any type of brutal attack against justices is direct threat towards the rule of law, independence of judiciary, human rights and functional autonomy of justices.
