Until some time ago, senior citizens and disabled citizens of Nisikhola Rural Municipality had to go to the bank and receive social security allowance. But now the rural municipality has started distributing allowances to them in the ward.
Senior citizens are happy after they started getting social security allowance in the village. Nisikhola Rural Municipality has reached all seven wards and started distributing allowances. Prior to this, senior citizens and physically challenged citizens had to go to the Prabhu Bank Nisikhola branch in Jivakhola to get the allowance. Purushottam Gautam, the information officer of Nisikhola Rural Municipality, said that for the convenience of the citizens, they have reached the village and started distributing allowances.
He says, "Earlier, we were distributing social security allowances to everyone from the bank, but later, as they were facing a lot of problems, we started distributing them by deputing the rural municipality and bank employees to villages." 82-year-old Kali Kumari Vick, a local resident, said that now that social security allowances have been distributed from the ward office, they are now at ease.
He said that he had to spend a lot of time before going to the bank and now he can get the allowance in the ward. "I am old, I need the help of others to get the allowance, I had to be asked to take it to the bank. Now that I have started giving from the ward, I will bring it myself little by little" said Vic. The government provided the facility, even though Burtibang had to be reached earlier, at that time the allowance could only be spent on the way."
