Seven households at risk of landslides shift to safe places in Tanahun

Seven households living at the risk of landslides in Milijulitole have moved to a safe place in Shuklagandaki Municipality-8, Tanahun district after another house was damaged by a landslide. 

A house belonging to Chitra Maya Baniya is completely buried in landslide debris while others are at imminent risk. According to Ward Chair Krishna Prasad Regmi, the family of Baniya has been shifted to a safe place.

He added that the houses belonging to Im Bahadur Baniya, Tuk Bahadur Shrestha, Shiva Kumari Shrestha, Shanti Thapa, Dil Bahadur Khatri and Kavita Bhattarai are at high risk of landslide.

The landslides have swept away the fertile lands at Dahare, Chanute, Lalim and surrounding area in the district. Meanwhile, a house of local Prem Bahadur Bhujel in Bhanu Municipality-10 has been buried in landslide debris. Foodgrains and cattle also perished in the disaster.

Meanwhile, the electricity supply has been disrupted in different places forcing 8,000 households into darkness. The electric pylons were pulled down by the landslides.

According to chief of power distribution centre Sovit Bahdur Chhetri, electricity was disrupted in Byas and Bhanu Municipalities and Bandipur Rural Municipality.
