As the risk of landslide and flooding is not over yet, Helambu Rural Municipality in Sindhupalchowk has called upon the locals to stay alert.

Issuing a notice this evening, the local level said that the flash flood in the Melamchi River on June 15 was the result of a landslide at Bhemadhang ground below the Mt Semesidang.

The rural municipality further said that 25 per cent of the ground had collapsed due to the landslide and it was not sure what would happen in the remaining part while urging the folks to remain alert and apply utmost precautions as chances are likely for the flood.

The swollen Melamchi River on Wednesday had wreaked havoc in Melamchi and Helambu area, killing some people and sweeping away many while dozens of houses were damaged in the flood.

The water level in the river is yet to recede and that has caused panic to the local people.

As the area is facing humanitarian crisis, the local levels in and around Melamchi and Helambu are working to help the needy people, rescue the stranded ones and to relocate the displaced families in a safe place.
