Tularam Gharti of the CPN (Maoist Centre) has filed their candidacy for the post of Speaker of Lumbini province from the ruling alliance.
Gharti was the only candidate for the Speaker as of 5:00 pm Monday. Bhumishwor Dhakal of the CPN (UML) proposed Gharti's nomination while Ashish Kumar Chaudhary of Rastriya Prajatantra Party seconded it.
However, three candidacies have registered their candidature for the post of deputy speaker. Menuka Khand of Rastriya Prajatantra Party from the ruling alliance filed her nomination. Indrajit Tharu of the CPN (Maoist Centre) proposed Khand's candidacy while Chandrakesh Gupta of the Janamat Party seconded it.
Likewise, Bishwo Prem Pathak of the Nepali Congress and Nirmala Devi Tharu of the Nagarik Unmukti Party have also filed their nomination for the post of deputy speaker.
The election for the posts of speaker and deputy speaker is taking place today. ---
