Six missing in Sindhupalchowk flood identified

Six people who have gone missing due to the flood in Melamchi River and Indrawati River in Sindhupalchowk district have been identified. According to the police all six are locals of Helambu.

As per the District Police Office of Sindhupalchowk, the six people who have gone missing are 31-year-old Madhav Bhandari and Ganesh Jyoti (41) of Helambu-2. The other people identified are 13-year-old Tika Maya Khadka of Hleambu-3 and Gyanendra Kakshapati of Helambu-7. Similarly, Cyangba Tamanag of Helambu-6 and Samundra Nepal of Chautara Sangachowkgadhi Municipality are also missing.

Similarly, bodies of six people who died in the flood have been covered but their identities have still not been ascertained according to the police. Since all the villages close to Melamchi River have been flooded information on the total number of people missing has still not been gathered, the police said.

The flood has washed away six concrete houses and a suspension bridge. The police have said that Tshiring Gyalbu Lama, Chairperson of Ward No.2 of Helambu Rural Municipality, has informed that around two dozen houses have been washed away by the Melamchi River.
