The urban areas of Bharatpur metropolis are getting brighter. The city has started getting brighter with the installation of smart street light connection in the market area of the metropolis in collaboration with the National Street Light Promotion Project and Bharatpur Municipal Corporation.
The work of installing smart street lights on the main roads of Bharatpur Metropolitan City will be completed within the second half of this June. Shishir Lamsal, who has been overseeing the work of Bharatpur light connection of Nepal Electricity Authority's National Street Light Promotion Project, said that the work of street light connection has been intensified.
He informed that the construction work of foundation for laying poles for street lights has reached the final stage. He said that out of the 1,190 foundations to be built, most of the construction work has been completed so far and 500 pillars have been laid.
He said that work in Mangalpur market area and bypass road area is only left. He said that the construction and connection work would be completed in a short time even if various problems arise due to roads and houses. He said, "It will take the last week of April or the second week of May to complete all these works." They project has been inaugurated by lighting smart street lights in 24 rooms of Bharatpur Metropolitan City on April 22.
Under this campaign, 1,933 lights will be installed in 78.1 km road area. The lights have been installed in partnership with the National Street Light Promotion Project and Bharatpur Municipal Corporation. According to Metropolitan Chief Renu Dahal, Safe Steel, Suryodaya Urja and Tapshan JV are working on the contract agreement worth Rs. 114,989,300 including value added tax.
He said, "The bright city campaign will be helpful to make Bharatpur the best city in Nepal in terms of security and beauty." High mast lights are being installed at District Administration Chowk, Hakim Chowk, Chaubiskothi, Virendra Campus Chowk, Sahid Chowk, Pulchowk, Pokhara Bus Park, Dayalo Bangla Chowk and Malpot Chowk in the main urban areas of Bharatpur. The rest of the road is planned to be blinded by installing smart lights. Mayor Dahal said that the work will be done due to long-term planning and initiative.
Metropolitan Deputy Chief Parvati Shah Thakuri informed that other major roads have also been surveyed and sent to NEA. He said, "It helps in controlling crime along with beautifying the city. The corporation has a 10 percent share in the light connection scheme under this campaign. The Ujyalo program helps in controlling traffic accidents and criminal activities at night. ”
401 street lights will be connected in 18.46 km of Hakim Chowk-Gitanagar-Jagatpur road section. There will be 569 street lights from Chaubiskothi to Meghauli, 569 in 23.8 km road section, 652 in 22.13 km road section from Mangalpur to Shukranagar and 58 street lights in 2.42 km road section from Pulchowk to Dayalo Bangla. 165 lights will be installed in 7.86 km road section from Dialobangla to District Administration Office, 50 lights in 2.17 km road section from Baseni Bazaar to Lamatol and 38 smart street lights in 1.26 km road from Birendra Campus Chowk to Vishal Chowk.-
