Snowfall making lives difficult in Taplejung

It has snowed for the second time in Taplejung. Snow has fallen in Faktanglung village municipality-6, Ghunsa village, and other areas at an altitude of 3,400 meters above sea level. People's life has been affected due to the snowfall and increase in the cold.

There was heavy snow last night. According to Kelsang Sherpa of Ghunsa, there is a problem in going outside due to extreme cold. Children and senior citizens have been more affected by the cold. According to Tashi Tenji Sherpa of Ghunsa, it has become difficult to protect the livestock due to the snowfall.

Similarly, heavy snowfall was reported at Faktanglung Rural Municipality-7 Olangchugola at an altitude of 3,200 meters and Yangma settlement at an altitude of 4,200 meters, said local Tenji Sherpa. However, snow has also fallen in Gapla and Mikwakhola VDC-6, Tokpegola, and Papung, said Dandu Sherpa, ward chairman of Mikwakhola-6. Snow has also fallen in the Pathivara temple area, a famous religious site located at an altitude of 3,794 meters above sea level. The first snowfall was recorded in the district on December 28 and 29 last year.
